Facing The Crowd

words & music Ed Pickford mcps/prs

The only thing I ever wanted to do

Was to stand up in front of some people like you

Sing a few songs I learned through the years

‘bout living and hoping, loving and tears.

        Chorus:

Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s not

But I always try to give all that I’ve got

Facing the crowd ‘til the curtain comes down

Then it’s back on the road to another new town.

I’ve sung on the highways, the truck stops and bars

Sometimes I’ve sung to the moon and the stars

I’ve climbed many mountains to be here with you

I’d climb them again to do what I do.

        Chorus:

The centre of a stage when the light’s down low

May seem lonely except that I know

There are people out there I’m proud to call friends

And we’ll share each other ‘til this concert ends.

        Chorus:

Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s not

But I always try to give all that I’ve got

Facing the crowd ‘til the curtain comes down

Then it’s back on the road to another new town
