This old guitar could have been a star

Could have travelled far but it stayed with me

Came all the way from the USA

One far off day to play with me

Chorus:

I could never make it sing the way it should

Its voice remained a prisoner in the wood

But I wrote some songs and I did the best I could

For me and the old guitar

I’ve loved and lost – I’ve paid the cost

Felt winter’s frost – on a summer’s day

One friend I found – never let me down

Always hung around – never walked away

Chorus

Bridge:

There’s a place I love called do what you can do

Be who you can be to be free

Time has no dominion – there is no land or sea

That’s the place for my guitar and me

This old guitar – could have been a star

In different hands – in famous bands

Heard people say – whatever comes your way

And seems to stay – is destiny
